Turkey mince spaghetti bolognaise.
I much prefer to cook with turkey mince....its got a lot less saturated fat than minced beef
Ingredients
Packet of fresh turkey mince - 400g (1.99 Aldi) = £1.99
Onion (Farmfoods 79p for 14-15)=5p
Half a jar of essentials pasta sauce (Aldi) 19p
half a bulb of fresh garlic cloves (pack of 4 bulbs Farmfoods=39p) 5p
2 teaspoons of oregano (49p for 50g jar at ALDI)2p
2 teaspoons of paprika (49p for 50g jar at ALDI)2p
350g dried spaghetti (23p for 500g at ALDI) 17p
2 tablespoons of tomato puree (35p concentrate ALDI) -1p
Total meal for 4 cost £2.50
Method:
I always dry fry my mince to keep the calories and saturated fat right down, so I add boiling hot water to my frying pan then add the whole packet of the turkey mince
Get another pan going with boiling water ready to cook the spaghetti.
start to brown the turkey mince - stir in the tomato puree and add the oregano/paprika/and garlic.
Put the spaghetti in the boiling water and a tip add a splash of any oil to stop it sticking together.
Add the chopped onion to the turkey mince and lightly fry-when all the turkey is browned and everything is mixed - add the pasta sauce - gently simmering until the spaghetti is cooked.
when the spaghetti is done drain and serve with the bolognaise sauce (and if the budget stretches add a sprinkle of parmesan and fresh basil leaves) season with black ground pepper and salt.
ENJOY
