Tartiflette (potato, cheese & bacon Gratin)
Ingredients:
1 kg sliced potatoes (7.5kg £2.00 FF) = 20p
3 garlic cloves – kept whole (39p for 4 bulbs FF) = 3p
125g Bacon lardons (89p 150g Aldi) = 75p
2 tbsp thyme (49p jar Aldi) = 5p
300ml Crème Fraiche (69p 300ml Aldi) = 69p
100g Camembert cheese (250g £1.39 Aldi) = 70p
Grand total £2.42
Method:
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Cook the potato slices in boiling water until just tender – drain. Heat oil in a large frying pan and add the whole cloves and bacon – cook for 3-4 mins, then gently add the potato slices then cook for a further 3-4 minutes. Pour in the crème fraiche and thyme then cover the potato mixture.
Transfer to a casserole dish and cover with the camembert then bake for 20mins.
