Today we have Full English Carbonara (PLus a Veggie option)
Ingredients :
3 sausages (99p pack for 4 Aldi) = 40p (Or Quorn alternative)
100g smoked bacon (£1.00 for 200g FF) = 50p (or Quorn)
1 small onion (79p bag 15 FF) = 5p
1 garlic clove (39 for 4 bulbs FF) = 1p
150g mushrooms (66p 500g FF) = 15p
2 medium eggs and 1 egg yolk (99p for 6 Aldi) = 45p
2 ripe tomatoes - chopped (69p for 6 Aldi) = 15p
300g dried spaghetti (20p Aldi for 500g) = 12p
tbsp parmesan = 5p
(or to make the dish even cheaper £1.38 omit the eggs and parmesan and add a
serving of cheese sauce - Bisto 23p)
GRAND TOTAL FOR 4 = £1.88
Method:
Heat the pan with a little oil (or water) add chunks of sausage and cook for about 5 minutes - until browned,
remove from the pan and leave to one side.
Cook the pasta until tender - drain and leave a little water in the pan-whilst the pasta is cooking...
pour off the fat from the pan and add the chopped bacon and fry for around a
minute. Add chopped garlic and chopped onion - fry lighrly and then add the
mushrooms. cover and lightly fry for a few minutes. Take the lid off add chopped
tomatoes and cook until any juice has been absorbed.
Beat the eggs and parmesan and salt and pepper to taste then add to the
spaghetti quickly to coat all the strands . in the sauce (or make up the cheese
sauce and coat the spaghetti in it)add the sausage and the bacon mixture - serve
immediately ..
